This month has been interesting to say the least. Our garden is definitely dying down. Most of our summer crops, except for a few stragglers have been pulled out. No more tomatoes (more on that later), corn, beans, or cucumbers. The only fruit we harvested Continue reading the story "October’s Totals"

Tom and I got married 2 years ago today. I think our wedding is really what set the stage for our urban farm. I know that sounds kind of strange, but it's true!

Next to our patio we have a fairly large landscape area and it was made up of ornamental plants - penstemon, daylilies, lavender, ornamental grasses and wild lilac. While it was blooming it was gorgeous, but that was just a short period of time. Since I'm a landscape Continue reading the story "Creating More Growing Space"

It's a changin' around here. Stuff is getting pulled out and replaced with our fall crops. The dry beans are gone. The lettuce, kale, tomatillos, garlic and turnips are all out, making an entire bed available for planting. The soil has been prepared and I have put Continue reading the story "Photo update"

We moved into our place in late December, 2008. In January we raced to get in vegetable beds. I used one of those home soil test kits to determine what we needed to do to the soil. According to the tests our soils were slightly Continue reading the story "Soil Testing"

August has really been a good ramp up. We've been extra busy harvesting and planting our fall crops. Our totals have more than doubled from July and they'll just keep going up for the month of September.

The beginning of the month we Continue reading the story "August’s Harvest Totals"
