Dogs & Cats – A Question for our Readers

Yes, that’s our cat laying on our dog’s head

Just a short post today but it would really help me out.

I’m curious to find out how many urban farmers, new rural farmers and homesteaders, and those thinking about joining the ranks have dogs and/or cats and if you had them before you moved onto other livestock.

  1. Ellada had this to say about that:

    Hello,
I have one dog and two cats, and they are very good friends.

  2. tami had this to say about that:

3 "rescue" dogs and 1 "rescue" cat. Enjoying your blog..just found you the other day.

  3. SECRET PEPPER PERSON: had this to say about that:

1 rescue dog and one rescue cat. I had 4 cats but they all recently passed away from old age. Daisy was 18, Periwinkle 17 and Emmett was 21.

  4. lucy had this to say about that:

Because every one of our neighbors has a big dog our yard has turned into a refugee for the neighborhood cats (unfortunately also their bathroom). We would love pets of our own, but our two legged little ones are giving us enough trouble for now. :-)

  5. Lorie had this to say about that:

2 rescue dogs. We had them both before the chickens.

One of them is the sweetest dog in the world but she would eat the chickens in a second if we let her!

Our other dog is a grumpy old man but loves the chickens and would nap in the coop if we let him.

  6. Michelle had this to say about that:

We got chickens in March of this year, and came back from a trip from home with two kittens. Hoping they will keep rats and mice at bay one day. Eventually we would like meat rabbits. We would like a dog one day too, but we also have four children to raise, so all in good time. :)
